Reggae Girlz lead Panama 1-0 at half time
DALLAS, United States — Jamaica’s Senior Reggae Girlz are on the verge of achieving an historic qualification to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, as they lead Panama 1-0 at half-time in the Concacaf Women’s Championship third place play off here at the Toyota Stadium.
The prolific Khadija Shaw found the goal in the 14th minute after heading home a well-weighted cross from 16-year-old Jody Brown.
With finalist United States and Canada already securing a spot in the World Cup, victory for the Jamaicans would see them becoming the first Caribbean team to make an appearance at the biggest event in Women’s football in France next year.
The fourth-place team will have another shot at qualifying by virtue of a home-and-away play-off against Argentina in November.
