Information phone line set up for residents in Kingston Western SOE
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Members of the security forces operating in the Kingston Western state of public emergency (SOE) have established an information phone line.
The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says the phone line is for residents who want to make enquiries about relatives that have been detained as well as those who want to be involved in the fight against crime in their community.
The police are encouraging residents to use this line to provide and seek information relating to detained relatives, gang operations, wanted persons and any illegal activities.
Residents can call, text or send WhatsApp messages to 876-340-7626 at any time.
The SOE was declared in Kingston Western as well as sections of the Kingston Central and St Andrew South Police Divisions on September 23, initially for 14 days, but the Government later approved a three-month extension, pushing the end date to January 7, 2019.
The initiative is part of the Government’s thrust to address the high crime rate in sections of the island.
