Reggae Trophy – the major racing offering on January 19
THE much-vaunted and unique five-straight course at Caymanas Park hosts the annual renewal of the Reggae Trophy for Grade 1 horses on Saturday, January 19.
Ten horses have been provisionally entered this year with the list headed by two-time Caribbean Sprint Championship winner Chace The Great from the barn of trainer Dwight Chen.
Chace The Great sits on top of the handicaps with 57.0 kgs (126 lb).
Next in line is the red hot Bigdaddykool who is better known to be more effective going over the longer distances.
The Reggae Trophy list also includes the likes of the ever consistent Another Bullet trained by Patrick Lynch, the filly Money Magnet who is coming from off a rest and the game oldster Campesino.
The developing now four-year-old Peking Cruz who finished third in the Sprint Championship in 2018 enters the handicaps at 43.0 kilogrammes but will have to carry the minimum weight of 50.0 kgs or 110 lb.
