Granville held 1-1 by Lucea in Western Confed Super League
GRANVILLE, St James — Granville United missed a chance to retake a share of the lead in Zone One of the Jamaica Football Federation Western Confederation Charley’s JB Rum Super League after they were held 1-1 by Lucea FC at the Granville Community Centre last Saturday.
A win would have taken the former champions level with Faulkland FC atop Zone One, but instead the gap closed on them by Sandals South Coast, who blanked Somerton FC 3-0 in the first-ever Super League game played at the Dumphries Community Centre field.
Faulkland FC lead with 13 points with Granville on 11 and Sandals South Coast on 10, two more than Harmony FC, who have a game in hand.
Demar Dohman, who played for Granville United two seasons ago, gave Lucea FC the lead in the 18th minute but Oniel Pringle scored in his second-straight game when he equalised for the home team in the 54th minute, beating the Lucea FC goalkeeper with a low, hard shot to his right.
At Dumphries, Kenrick Clarke shot Sandals South Coast into the lead in the 32nd minute but they had to wait until the 55th minute when Tristan Sommerville added a second.
The veteran Ron Daley added a third in the 70th minute as Somerton FC have now conceded 20 goals in their first six games, all losses.
