Suspected suicide at Savanna-la-Mar hospital

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — A patient of the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital in Westmoreland has reportedly committed suicide on the compound.

The incident reportedly took place on Saturday on a ward of the type B institution.

Details on the incident, which has been confirmed by officials from the Western Regional Health Authority, are not available at this time.

However, it is understood that the patient was mentally ill.
