Havendale under siege!
Dear Editor,
The normally peaceful middle-class residential area of Havendale has come under siege with a spate of gun attacks and robberies.
On Thursday, January 31, gunmen robbed two people on Border Avenue in the vicinity of Havendale Plaza.
Then on Sunday morning, February 3, popular businessman Father Romey was reportedly shot in a robbery attempt at his gate on Kirk Avenue.
Then on Monday night, February 4, two gunmen attempted to rob a guest house in the area. They were challenged by a licensed firearm holder; one was shot and the police recovered a pistol.
Tuesday morning, February 5, a woman was relieved of her cellphone, again in close proximity to Border and Kirk avenues.
Later that day a lone bike rider attempted to rob a woman of her handbag close to the Rubis gas station situated at the corner of Manning’s Hill Road and Border Avenue.
Interestingly, all these incidents occurred within a stone’s throw of each other. It doesn’t matter the time of day, morning, noon or night.
Can the Constant Spring police please increase patrols in the area before the statistics include deaths?
