Performance analysis for Saturday, February 2, 2019

RACE 1 -$350-300,000 CLAIMING (3-YEAR-OLDS&UPWARDS) 1400METRES/7FURLONGS

Jamaican Citizen was held up just behind pacemakers Reassurance and Blood Song before assuming the lead in the upper stretch. Running well from the distance and not being allowed to idle Jamaican Citizen finished 2 1/2 lengths clear of Blood Song at the line.

RACE 2-RESTRICTED STAKES (3-YEAR-OLDS&UPWARDS) 1500METRES/7 1/2FURLONGS

Universal Boss led in pretty impressive fractions completing the first 1,200 metres in 1:10.3 forcing Supreme Soul to work very hard to keep in touch. However, once on terms 200 metres out, Supreme Soul stayed on strongly to score by 3 1/2 lengths.

RACE 3-MAIDEN CONDITION (THREE-YEAR-OLDS ONLY) 1700METRES/8 1/2FURLONGS

Favourite Lambana did not raise a serious gallop and finished 16 lengths fourth: given the previous lack of form of the other starters an explanation should be provided. Dare To Speak tracked tear-away leader My Son Bates until overtaking 300 metres out, going on to win by 8 1/2 lengths.

RACE 4-RESTRICTED ALLOWANCE V (5YOS&UP/NW2) 1000METRES/5FURLONGS STRAIGHT

Let It Snow and Okahumpka dominated on the far side with the fancied pair of OK Dude and Boss Izzy both running as though something was amiss nearer the grandstand side. Okahumpka kept on very strongly from 300 metres out to winning by four lengths.

RACE 5-ALEXANDER HAMILTON TROPHY OPEN ALLOWANCE (3YOS&UP) 1600METRES/8FURLONGS

The riders of Another Vigorous and Superluminal had no intention of changing pre-race tactics and both rubbed shoulders in punishing fractions completing 1,200 metres in 1:10.4. Another Vigorous stumbled 200 metres out and had to be eased as Superluminal went clear. Saratoga Sight was slowly into stride but mended steadily throughout, ran on strongly on the far rails and only failed by a late short head to nose out Superluminal.

RACE 6-$180,000 CLAIMING (4-YEAR-OLDSS&UPWARDS) 1000METRES/5FURLONGS ROUND

Well down in class favourite Big Black Nation, although slowly away, got on terms with the leaders at the distance and pulled away to win by nearly 8 lengths.

RACE 7-$450-400,000 CLAIMING (3-YEAR-OLDS&UPWARDS) 1600METRES/8FURLONGS

Top Eagle in his pace-making role for stable companion Mirabilis was easily overtaken by Ballon D’Or, who stayed on strongly in the home straight to win by 8 1/2 lengths.

RACE 8-MAIDEN CONDITION (THREE-YEAR-OLDS ONLY) 1000METRES/5FURLONGS ROUND

Roy Rogers although clear early was an unconvincing leader and was passed easily by One Soo True in the final part of the bend. Running particularly well up the lane, One Soo True had the momentum to deny the late rush of promising debutants Raw Liquid and Soul Cure by 1 1/2 lengths.

RACE 9-RESTRICTED ALLOWANCE II (5-YEAR-OLDS&UPWARDS) 1100METRES/5 1/2FURLONGS

Storm Princess led Rockdale whose gallop lacked fluency forcing the rider to ease down 300 metres out. Always clear of her field, Storm Princess was not for catching and skated in 3 1/2 lengths ahead of Union Four.

RACE 10-RESTRICTED ALLOWANCE V (4-YEAR-OLDS&UPWARDS) 1200METRES/6FURLONGS

Golden Destiny and Young Boy Eddie intent on running each other to ground engaged in a suicidal battle into straight which set up the race nicely for the finishing speed of Lord Ashton. Confidently held up in mid-pack, Lord Ashton was taken wide at the top of the stretch to ensure a clear run and struck the front just inside the last 200 metres to come home by 3 1/4 lengths.
