Performance analysis for Saturday, February 9, 2019

RACE 1-MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT DIV I (3-YEAR-OLD-FILLIES) 1200METRES/6FURLONG

Mystic Mamma soon established a comfortable early advantage while favourite Splendid Vision and the impressive looking Princess Lauren gave the field a head start. Taking closer orders easily coming to the home straight, Princess Lauren needed only firm persuasion to take the lead 300 metres out and score by just over three lengths.

RACE 2-MAIDEN CONDITION (FOUR-YEAR-OLDS&UPWARDS) 1300METRES/6 1/2FURLONGS

Messi strolled to the front under 69-year-old Hall of Fame reinsman David McKenzie and came home four lengths clear to confirm the veteran rider’s status as the oldest ever in Jamaican racing history and certainly one of the few in any jurisdiction worldwide to win at this age.

RACE 3-MAIDEN CONDITION (5-YEAR-OLDS&UPWARDS) 1000METRES/5FURLONGS ROUND

Mistrial and Rundazzle wore down each other with the battle for the lead leaving the former with nothing to repel the strong late run of Makhi who was among the backmarkers at the top of the stretch, but scored by nearly three lengths.

RACE 4-MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT DIV II (THREE-YEAR-OLDSFILLIES) 1200METRES/6FURLONGS

Reggae Gone Grammy simply outclassed this field by going clear 700 metres out and winning by over eight lengths.

RACE 5-RESTRICTED ALLOWANCE IV (5YOS&UPWARDS) 1000METRES/5FURLONGS STRAIGHT

Chrisanli led for 600 metres before giving way to Uncle Wal with Uncle Freddie challenging. Entering the last 150 metres, Uncle Freddie quickened impressively to finish strongly for a three-length victory margin.

RACE 6-RESTRICTED ALLOWANCE II (THREE-YEAR-OLDS/NW2) 1600METRES/8FURLONGS

Phenom led under pressure from Earn Your Stripes for 800 metres with the latter cruising to the front to control the remainder of the gallop for a nine-length victory. The time of 1:39.2 against the unusual and fairly strong headwind down the backstretch for 500 metres has confirmed his class and Earn Your Stripes may be the one who has so far improved most from two the three-years-old.

RACE 7-$120-100,000 CLAIMING (5YOS&UPWARDS) 600METRES/3FURLONGS STRAIGHT

Machu Picchu unseated the rider at the start whilst favourite Big Mistake led for over 600 metres before being overcome by lameness. Awesome Cat took the lead on the far side and ran well inside the last 100 to hold the late challenge of Copperfield by a neck.

RACE 8-$250-210,000 CLAIMING (3-YEAR-OLDS&UPWARDS) 1000METRES/5FURLONGS ROUND

Sweet Destiny was the first to show before giving way to stablemate Powerofgiving, who led into the upper stretch. Well ridden Sweet Destiny came back to the front approaching the distance and held off the strong finish of Double Deal by just over one length.

RACE 9-RESTRICTED ALLOWANCE IV (4-YEAR-OLDS&UPWARDS/NW3) 1600METRES/8FURLONGS

Deploying enterprising tactics Nuclear Lava responded well to the rider’s approach by making all the running and holding off the sustained challenged of Sir Puddington’s best effort in his last six starts by just over a length.

RACE 10-OVERNIGHT ALLOWANCE (3-THREE-YEAR-OLDS&UPWARDS) 1100METRES/5 1/2FURLONGS

Surprisingly Wartime sprinted into the lead and was pursued by Dunrobin and Mr Ambassador before giving up 300 metres out. Mr Ambassador and Dunrobin were left to engage in a shoulder to shoulder contest with the former gaining the marginal advantage of a shorthead at the line.

RACE 11-$180,000 CLAIMING (FOUR-YEAR-OLDS&UPWARDS) 1200METRES/6FURLONGS

Piano Man and Court Call showed first with Fiery Call and Clearly Ours ahead of the large compact field. With 600 metres to come, Clearly Ours shot into the lead to turn for home clear and then kept on strongly to win by six and a half lengths.
