UPDATE: Woman killed, estranged husband held at airport

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Police say the man suspected of killing his wife in southern St Elizabeth early Friday morning was later held at the Norman Manley Airport in Kingston.

According to the police the man had been abroad for four years before returning to Jamaica on Monday.

Earlier police reports today are that the woman died from gunshot wounds and her estranged husband taken into custody following a shooting at Seaview, close to Southfield, southern St Elizabeth early Friday.

Reports say the woman identified as Moylyn Williams-Toppin who was a transport operator – driving children to and from school – had entered her vehicle at minutes after 6:00am along with her young nephew when she found the killer awaiting them inside the bus.

Williams-Toppin reportedly started the engine and drove off while engaging the armed man in conversation urging him to give her the gun. Reports say he told her to stop the vehicle before firing shots killing her.

Police say the child was not physically harmed.
