Excelsior whip Camperdown 21-0 in ISSA schoolgirl football

DEFENDING champions Excelsior High swamped Camperdown High 21-0 as the 2019 Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association Locker Room Sports/TIP Friendly Society High School Girls football competition kicked off at Spanish Town Prison Oval last week Tuesday.

Christina Salmon led the goal-scoring feast for Excelsior with 10 goals. She was assisted by Davia Richards with a hat-trick, and two goals each by Chevenelle Henry, Nevillegail Able and Shania Harri.

Meanwhile, also at the same venue, Greater Portmore High registered a 16-0 win over Jonathan Grant High in their Zone H encounter.

Solay Meredith netted five, Dejoinee Anderson scored four goals, Timarley Campbell added three goals, while Kelly Nunes, Omelia Grant and Chardonae Cunningham netted one each. Greater Portmore led 5-0 at half-time.

Last year’s beaten finalist Denham Town High got off to a bright start with a 9-0 win over Immaculate Conception High in their Zone G encounter last Wednesday.

Scoring for the winners were Natoya Atkinson with four goals, Tiffany Gayle three goals, with the other two goals scored by Suen Gregory and Kersha Thomas. Denham Town led 6-0 at the interval.

In other Zone G game, Meadowbrook High tagged Merl Grove High 3-0 at home, while Pembroke Hall High clipped home team St Andrew Technical High School 1-0.

In two Zone H encounters last Wednesday, St Jago High blanked Bridgeport High 5-0 through three goals from Tiny Seaton and one each from Nicole Wright and Mahailia Johnson.

Spanish Town High, through two goals from Danielle Cameron, and one each from Argel Henry, Ashayle Michael and Brianne Vincent defeated Spanish Town 5-1.

In Zone A action, Montego Bay High registered a 6-2 win away to Green Pond High. Lacovia High came away with a 2-0 win over hosts Black River High in a Zone B encounter.

Last Friday, Denham Town registered another convincing 7-0 win over Edith Dalton-James to win their second-consecutive game from two starts. Natoya Atkinson led the scoring with four goals, while the other scorers were Moet Reid with two and the other from Jah Sheena Dennis. Denham Town led 1-0 at half-time.

Spanish Town whipped Jonathan Grant 5-1 through two goals each from Danielle Cameron and Brenda Sterling, with the other from Ronay Howell. The teams were locked 1-1 at half-time.
