Head coach of promoted Meadforest FC, Karume Huie expressed some amount of contentment that the process of reformation is beginning to take shape, following their 3-1 victory over fellow newcomers Constant Spring in their Zone A Magnum KSAFA Super League football match on the weekend at Constant Spring Complex.

Meadforest had drawn and lost one game apiece in their first two matches, but scored their first win on Saturday night through goals from Oshane Aaron (15th), Dondre Walker (64th), and Ian Davis (89th). Rohan Shea (20th) scored for Constant Spring FC, who carried a marginal threat until Davis made the points sure a minute from time, promoting the fist-pumping Huie to rise from his bench.

“The transition to Super League for these players is a growing up in terms of, we shouldn’t be making those mistakes because even in the game we were up 2-1 and it seemed as if we started to get ahead of ourselves; we feel like we win the game. And we’ve to understand … at this level you’ve to keep your focus, you’ve to keep your head in the game at all times,” said Huie.

Commenting on their first win, he noted: “It builds spirit, it builds motivation, and it builds character. For me personally, it’s like a weight [has] come off my shoulder.”

Huie noted that the foundation for success had been laid ahead of the clash.

“It started from last week’s game, for them to believe in the method that we’re showing them, making them understand that some of it you may not like it, but we’ve to understand that at the end of the day this is how it’s going to work. I’m not going to put a team out there and we just go and play — we’ve to play with a structure, organisation. There’s an approach to it, when people come and watch us they must see that this team is playing with a pattern,” he explained.

The third goal, in particular, was quite spectacular and Huie lauded the effort, as well as the tally.

“The whole day Thursday we just shoot, we just keep on shooting constantly. We don’t do anything the whole day Thursday and it really pay off to see they really put it together; and congrats to the captain to put in a good one,” he said.

The win lifted Meadforest FC to four points, while Constant Spring remained without a point after suffering their third-consecutive loss. Real Mona FC moved to the of the group on seven points, after defeating Molynes United FC in the feature match. Ryan Reid, (17th) and Jamoy Sibles (34th scored for Mona, while Patrick Scheklude (78th) pulled one back for Molynes, who remained on four points.

In Zone B, Boys’ Town FC joined Brown’s Town and Barbican FC up top on seven points, with a 3-0 victory over Mountain View FC in Sunday night’s feature. Shaquille Bradford (1st), Michael Campbell (71st) and Javanni Campbell (86th) scored for Boys’ Town. Defending champions Barbican brushed aside Maxfield Park 2-0 in Saturday’s opener, with goals from Maurice Wilson (13th) and Andrew Christie (90th).

Meanwhile, in KSAFA Major League Saturday matches, Olympic Gardens beat Pembroke Hall 2-0, Shortwood United edged Police National 1-0, and Cooreville Gardens defeated Seaview Gardens 1-0. On Sunday, Liguanea United beat New Kingston 1-0, August Town defeated Allman/Woodford 2-1, and Greenwich Town hammered Swallowfield FC 5-0.
