Four-year-old chestnut filly Sea Swan returned to competitive racing after a four-month break and put away a moderate field in a Restricted Allowance event for native-bred four-year-olds and upward non-winners of two fillies and mares only over five furlongs (1,000m) round.

Sea Swan, the daughter of the talented speedster St Cecelia, last raced on October 20, 2018, when she finished seventh by 6 ¼ lengths behind Necromancer, Brandy and Virtuoso over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m) as the 3-5 favourite.

Trainer Spencer Chung then informed that his charge Sea Swan had bucked shins and he had to give her time off to heal.

“She ( Sea Swan) had bucked-shins. This is when the shins get inflamed with the bone and, so you have to cool her off and bring her back to the races. She is good now and she ran a very good race as well,” Chung revealed.

Sea Swan made one move to win by 11 lengths in a time of 59.3, setting splits of 23.1 and 46.2.

Aaron Chatrie broke Sea Swan on top ahead of Super Mal (Samantha Fletcher) and Lala Diva (Javaniel Patterson).

Sea Swan then opened up her lead with every stride. Coming into the lane and looking strong, Sea Swan just kept on going and going.

A Seh Soup (Dane Nelson) came from far behind to get second with Cherokee Way (Omar Walker) getting third.

“It was a good performance. Sea Swan ran well and I am happy for her. She will now go to non-winners of three, but we will take it day by day with her,” Chung said.
