‘Purple Slush’ makes it official
Organisers of the annual Purple Slush Family Fun Day in Morant Bay, St Thomas, recently launched the The Purple Slush Foundation. Registered as a charitable organisation in 2018, the foundation has since rallied to get donations for its Pack-A-Bag Campaign.
That campaign provides for needy students in eastern Jamaica, mainly St Thomas.
The Purple Slush Foundation’s main source of income and distribution is the Purple Slush Family Fun Day, which takes place in July.
“Our foundation was formed based on a few needs that we observed while on the promotional trail for our annual event. We have always prided ourselves in giving back toys and fun activities to children, but for the last two years we have made it our priority to provide educational materials and supplies for those in need,” said Talisa Taylor, co-founder and director of Purple Slush Foundation.
Since it was formed by Taylor and Maurice Williams, the Purple Slush Foundation has provided over 1,000 school bags and participated in several school and community-based initiatives in St Thomas.
Taylor added: “St Thomas is developing greatly, and we are happy to be hosting a main event there that focuses on education and family-friendly activities. We want to bring change to the parish, so we will be partnering on several other efforts.”
This year’s Purple Slush Family Fun Day is scheduled for July 20 at Colonel Cove in Morant Bay.
