UPDATE: Crawford arrives to applause at Bloomfield’s funeral
PORTLAND, Jamaica — There was pandemonium a short while ago inside the Open Bible Church in Portland as rumoured People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for Portland Eastern Damion Crawford arrived midway the funeral of slain Member of Parliament Dr Lynvale Bloomfield.
Crawford arrived during Portland Councillor Dexter Roland’s tribute to thunderous applause.
This was sustained as he greeted Opposition Leader Dr Peterson Phillips and former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller before taking his seat.
Crawford, the former St Andrew East Rural MP, is expected to become the PNP’s standard-bearer when Prime Minister Andrew Holness announces the date for the imminent by-election
Dr Bloomfield was murdered on February 2.
