STETHS lead charge by St Elizabeth schools at Western Champs
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — St Elizabeth schools, led by seven-time boys’ champions St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS), had several top- 10 finishes in both sections at the recent County of Cornwall Athletics Association (COCAA) Western Championships.
STETHS amassed 424 points to win the boys’ section, while the girls fell to third place with 254 points, over 150 points behind three-time champions Rusea’s High School’s 411 points.
Lacovia High finished sixth in the boys’ section, Sydney Pagon High School were eighth, Munro College were ninth, and Lewisville High 10th.
Lewisville were sixth in the girls’ rankings and Lacovia 10th.
BB Coke’s Javed Jones created one of the biggest upsets of the three-day championships when he won the Boys’ Class 1 400m hurdles in 53.33 seconds, just edging favourite Brithon Senior of Rusea’s High to the line.
Aneisha Monteith of Lewisville won the Girls’ 3,000m Open, while Brian Roach of Lacovia High won the Boys’ Class 2 200m.
