Good turnout at I Love Mo Bay’s ‘Movies in the Park’
Over 500 residents from across the resort city of Montego Bay recently flocked to the Old Hospital Park for the monthly staging of the I Love MoBay Foundation initiative Movies in the Park.
Many of the patrons — including scores of students from Glendevon Primary and Junior High and Green Pond High, as well as residents from the Mount Salem, Tucker, Catherine Hall and Tucker communities — who were transported to the venue for the viewing of the Oscar-winning film Black Panther were elated to see the movie.
Apart from the viewing, there was a slew of games and dance competitions and a ‘bouncy house’ for children.
At the end of the film, project coordinator of I Love Mobay Foundation, Tedra Stewart, engaged the students in a rap session.
Grade two student of Chetwood Memorial Primary School Deanashae Delisser expressed, “Black Panther taught me the importance of supporting my family. It also teaches me to fight for what I want. I will be fighting to get an A+ on my next test for sure.”
According to Stewart, the film shown each month always has a fruitful message that each attendee can walk away with.
The next Movies in the Park event is scheduled for March 29 at the Old Hospital Park.
