Magnum targets Carib for 20th year
Promoters of Magnum Xplosion, which began last year, are looking to expand their brand in the Caribbean for 2019. The popular Magnum drink commemorates its 20th anniversary this year, and manufacturers plan to make their mark in Guyana, Barbados, St Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago.
“Magnum Xplosion 2018 was an amazing experience for the brand consumers throughout the region. Not only were we able to increase our brand’s reach, more importantly we were able to reward our loyal consumers outside of Jamaica for the first time in such a big way,” said Kamal Powell, Magnum’s marketing manager for the Caribbean.
Powell continued: “The reception towards Magnum Xplosion in the Caribbean has been amazing. In Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados, we recorded our largest numbers with over 15,000 patrons turning out for the concerts there. This year, we will execute not just a concert, but a world-class dancehall experience.”
In addition to Magnum Xplosion, Tek Charge Thursdays, featuring sound system selector Kurt Riley, will be unveiled at select bars and lounges. There will also be the Magnum Xplosion Club Tour in the Caribbean.
The Magnum Tonic Wine Club Tour is scheduled to kick-off in Belize on March 6. Other stops will be in St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Maarten, Suriname and Guadeloupe. The first Magnum Xplosion for 2019 will be held on April 21 in Guyana.
The final Magnum Xplosion for 2018 was held at Melbourne Cricket Club in Kingston and drew a strong turnout. It saw performances from Magnum King of Dancehall winners Bluugo and Devin Di Dakta as well as Safiyah, Magnum Queen for 2018, Ding Dong, Govana, Aidonia, Spice, Teejay, and Bounty Killer.
