Brilliant Senior blasts 152 as XLCR dominate Innswood
A brilliant 152 runs by Excelsior High captain Raewin Senior pushed his team into a winning position against Innswood High on the second day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Shield final at Melbourne Oval yesterday.
Defending champions Innswood were 8-1 at the close of play after being set a mssive target of 546 for victory.
Scores: Excelsior 285 & 379 (82.4 overs); Innswood 119 & 8-1.
Meanwhile, Senior was pleased with his effort.
“I played a very good innings and I took my time in getting the century because I said to myself that I want to make a big score and place Excelsior into a good winning position. I am looking to wrap up the match tomorrow (today) and end my schoolboy playing career on a high note,” Senior said.
Action resumes at 10:00 on today’s final day.
Senior, who is in his last season in the competition, made 152 off 140 balls, which included 12 fours and eight sixes.
Senior, who batted at number five, hit Innswood captain Carlos Brown to all parts of the park. The Excelsior captain was the last man out bowled by Oneil Weir.
With the ball, Excelsior quickly wrapped up Innswood’s innings when they got the last man out on 119 and took a 166-run first innings lead.
