After victory, Ras Emanuel is getting a rest

VETERAN conditioner Peter McMaster revealed that he is going to give his charge Ras Emanuel what he termed as a well-needed rest following the seven-year-old bay horse’s fighting win in an Overnight Allowance event on Saturday, March 16, 2019.

Ridden by Omar Walker, Ras Emanuel defeated My Sister (Dane Dawkins) by a head in a tussle to the wire in a three-year-olds and upward event over five furlongs (1,000m) on the round course.

It was a well-earned victory for Ras Emanuel who had finished in second position in his last four runs at this level. His last victory was one year ago.

McMaster insisted that Ras Emanuel needs a break before his return to Open Allowance.

“Very good. The performance was a very good one. After four second-place finishes, I had to call for the services of Omar, who knows him best and he rode a good race to get Ras Emanuel home.

“He ( Ras Emanuel) is going to be ready for the Open Allowance level in time but for now I am going to give him a pull. He can win in Open Allowance but now rest is required,” McMaster stated.

My Sister shot into the early lead over Zephyr (Oneil Scott), Mr Ambassador (Christopher Mamdeen) and Ras Emanuel.

The order remained the same navigating the half-mile (800m) turn until Ras Emanuel took on My Sister for the lead approaching the home turn. The two turned for home alongside each other and both were hooked up thereafter with neither refusing to give up.

Inside the final half-furlong (100m), Ras Emanuel got the bop at the wire for his eighth career win from 37 starts with earnings of just under $5 million. Zephyr was third.

Bred by Burning Marque — Pleasant Princess, Ras Emanuel covered the distance in 1:00.1.
