KINGSTON, Jamaica — Another ex-member of the Uchence Wilson Gang this morning testified that the police corporal, who is said to be a part of the gang, would collect money to free members when they were arrested and would also inform the alleged leader when the police were seeking to arrest him.

The lawman, who has been identified as Corporal Lloyd Knight, is being tried along with the reputed gang leader, 28-year-old Uchence “Terrence” Wilson and 22 other alleged gangsters, including four women.

“Terrence tell mi say Mr Knight a one a him link in a di police force,” the witness said, adding: “Sometimes, he also line up work for the gang”.

When asked what he meant by “line up work”, the witness said that Knight would tell Wilson where to rob and would collect some of the stolen money.

The witness, who is a taxi driver, also told the court that the police officer would inform the gang leader about people who had made reports about gang member.

As it relates to an instance in which money was paid to Knight for him to free members of the gang, the witness said he was told by another member, Fitzroy Scott, that Wilson was arrested while he was about to leave for a vacation in a Caribbean island but paid Knight to prevent the matter from going to court.

He also testified that another member, Jason, was arrested and Wilson paid Knight money for him to be released.

The accused are being tried on various charges, including breaches of the Criminal Justice Suppression of Criminal Organisations Act (Anti-Gang Legislation), being part of a criminal organisation, illegal possession of firearm, as well as facilitating serious offence by a criminal organisation.
