#Champs2019: Rusea’s Donaldson dedicates discus gold to mom
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Shamella Donaldson of Rusea’s High School dedicated a fine performance to her mother after securing gold in the girls’ Class One discus throw on day two of the ongoing ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’and Girls’ Athletic Championships at the National Stadium.
Donaldson, the Western champion, launched the instrument to a new personal best 50.76 metres, bettering her previous best of 49.06m.
She won ahead of Adrienne Adams of Excelsior with 47.32m and main rival Marie Forbes (46.94m) of Edwin Allen.
Ironically, the trio entered the finals in that particular order following first round throws of 47.52m, 46.06m and 44.66m, respectively.
