#Champs2019: Cbar’s Venson extends unbeaten 1,500m streak, Green cops girls’ Class 1 title
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Edwin Allen’s Kayan Green and Kevroy Venson of Calabar finished tops in the boys’ and girls’ Class One 1,500m finals at the 109th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships underway at the National Stadium.
The gulf in class between Green and her rivals was on display as she romped the event by well over 10 metres stopping the clock at 4:35.08, way ahead of Holmwood Technical’s Delverna Bromfield (4:46.95) and Kimone Campbell (4:48.19) of Spaldings.
Meanwhile, the boys’ event was expected to be something special and it lived up to its billing with Venson extending his unbeaten run in this event at Champs.
The outstanding talent pulled away from the field to win in 3:54.08 ahead of Spot Valley’s Tyrese Reid (3:56.61) who was winning his first Champs medal, while Kimar Farquharson (3:57.76), also of Calabar, retained his bronze medal from last year.
