#Champs2019: Dwyer, Henry take Class 2 800m titles
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Edwin Allen’s Rushana Dwyer and Gianni Henry of Kingston College won the girls’ and boys’ Class two 800m titles on the final day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships underway at the National Stadium.
Dwyer, who was twice the class three champion, added the class two title with a comfortable win in 2:14.03. Cheriece Cope of Spaldings High finished fast for second in 2:15.25, ahead of Holmwood Technical’s Daniella Deer (2:16.77), who showed signs of fatigue after earlier winning the 400m.
Meanwhile, Henry who was beaten by Jamaica College’s J’Voughn Blake in the 1,500m, turned the tables to win the 800m in 1:52.10.
Blake clocked 1:52.31 for second with Adrian Nethersole of St Elizabeth Technical in third in 1:53.51.
KC has now moved up to 261 points with Calabar on 177.
