Will ISSA act now?
Dear Editor,
I write regarding the disgusting, deplorable and despicable video making the rounds of Calabar boys leading a chant aimed at their rivals Kingston College.
Having lost at ”Champs”, the Calabar boys descended to this most vulgar display which is not in keeping with the values of a school aligned to the Baptist church.
While shocking, it’s hardly surprising as recent events may have led these boys to think winning Champs is their right.
Thank God they lost by a margin in excess of 80 points, as God forbid were it as close as the race between Edwin Allen and Hydel we might have had a riot at the Stadium.
Two years ago Kingston College were the heavy favourites to win the title, but lost to Calabar by a mere six points. They took it on the chin in a manly manner.
It is now time for the seemingly impotent Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) to act.
Calabar should be banned from Champs for at least two years.
If ISSA lacks the will, then sponsors GraceKennedy must insist that body acts, with the threat of pulling its sponsorship.
Finally, it certainly didn’t take long for physics teacher Sanjaye Shaw to be vindicated, did it?
