PORTLAND, Jamaica — People’s National Party supporter and Attorney-at-law Valerie Neita-Robertson has raised concerns about “intimidations” from Jamaica Labour Party supporters at the Drapers All Age polling station in Portland.

According to Neita-Robertson, supporters of the JLP have been intimidating supporters of the opposing People’s National Party (PNP) with comments from the fence of the polling station.

“They park in front of the tent and the police told them they can’t stay there because it’s too close and they moved and are now behind the wall,” she told the OBSERVER ONLINE.

Election rules state that individuals not casting a vote are to stay at least 50-yards from the polling station.

“They are up there intimidating the voters and they are not supposed to do that. I can’t understand why JLP supporters won’t obey the rules. It’s like a free for all down here,” Neita-Robertson continued.

JLP candidate, Ann-Marie Vaz cast her vote a short while ago, at the Drapers All Age polling station. Her husband, Daryl Vaz, who is the Member of Parliament for the neigbouring Portland Western constituency, had voted ahead of her at the said location.
