#PortlandEasternVotes: More than 25% of electors voted in morning session
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) is reporting a 25 per cent voter turnout at 11:00 am, as the people of Portland Eastern elect a new Member of Parliament.
With 36,315 electors on the voters list in the constituency, 8,929 had already cast their votes, four hours after the polls had opened.
In one polling station, 43 per cent or 58 of the 134 electors had voted, while another polling station reported that 109 of 304, (35 per cent) have already voted.
Voters have until 5:00 pm to cast their ballots for either the People’s National Party’s Damion Crawford or the Jamaica Labour Party’s Ann-Marie Vaz.
The result of the poll should be available shortly after 8:00 pm.
