Master of Hall scorches 1:37.0 for a mile
Master of Hall has truly arrived.
After just missing out by a head when moving into Overnight Allowance company for the first time 15 days ago, Master of Hall would not be denied on Sunday (April 14) as he easily won at the same level.
Showing a quiet pleasure with the continued progress being made by Master of Hall, trainer Fitzroy Glispie was, however, cautious.
“This year he ( Master of Hall) has grown up and matured into a very nice horse. I am expecting him to get to the top, but I did not want him to peak so early, as 1:37.0 is fast, very fast for 1,600 metres.”
“What is next, I have no real plan at the moment. I just want to go home and make sure that he is ok and then we can plan for future conquests.
“He is a very good horse and, barring any unforeseen negative development, later down in the year, when he begins to rub shoulders with the top horses then, then at that time, we will have a better idea of determining what is his most profitable path. Then, a Diamond Mile move, at that point, could be on,” Glispie pointed out.
The progressing son of Emperor Hall, ridden by the claiming apprentice rider Reyan Lewis, has now secured five wins from eight starts.
After racing last of seven into the straight, Master of Hall unleashed a tantalising stretch run to surge by rivals, and was clear at the line ahead of the 2-1 shot runner-up Saratoga Sight under Dane Nelson.
Sent off as the 2/5 morning line favourite, the four-year-old bay gelded son of the locally bred Emperor Hall, tallied a five-length margin victory from his closest rival that resulted in an eye-opening 1:37.0 run mounted upon captivating fractions of 23.4, 46.3, 1:11.1 for 1,600 metres. Master of Hall was bred by Bevin Hall and Ivan Rowe.
