Patrons attending the inaugural staging of Bacchanal Premium believe the event lived up to its billing.

“It is absolutely wonderful! There is a nice vibe and not too many people so it’s definitely premium,” legal assistant Rose Allen-Cole told the Jamaica Observer.

The event, hosted by Bacchanal Jamaica, was held at Hope Gardens in St Andrew on Wednesday.

Radio personality Kim Phillips raised her glass to the event, based on the exquisite liquor available.

Carol Fernandez of the United Nations’ Environmental Programme was pleased for multiple reasons.

“It’s a smaller group but some of the people here are my friends and we’re having a good time. There is premium liquor; I mean, there is nothing that I haven’t asked for at the bar that they don’t have. From Absolut Vodka, to whisky, to rum to Champagne..they have everything! I am also happy that they used environmentally friendly straws,” she said.

In addition to the liquor, the soirée was doused with soca hits from selectors Private Ryan, Barrie Hype, Lantern MD, and Ryan Sayeed.

Bacchanal Jamaica director Michael Ammar Jr was elated at the support.

“It looks pretty successful. I’m happy with the turnout. This is the first [premium] party… the vibe is excellent; people are loving the quality, and that’s what we want. We want people to come in and talk to us about the bar. I think it’s going really well,” he told the Observer.

Ammar Jr further explained that thought was put into every detail for a premium experience.

“The bar, the type of liquor you can get, the dinner, the cigar, and the people. It’s a very premium crowd. We have a lot of visitors here and a lot of the real soca enthusiasts of all ages. We have people from Haiti, and it’s the people that love soca music and that’s what Bacchanal is about,” he said.

He expects Bacchanal J’Ouvert tonight at Mas Camp to be an equal success.

“Friday night at J’Ouvert is gonna be absolutely, totally wild. We have Machel [Montano], we have Nailah, Back to Basics, Smoke, Barrie Hype and it’s gonna be a black light J’Ouvert, meaning the entire Mas Camp is gonna be black-lit and all-glow paint. First time done in Jamaica. We’re looking forward to it. It’s gonna be a lot of fun; J’Ouvert is the night we as a bacchanal family come together and celebrate the end of a Carnival season because Carnival day we have to work so Friday we come out and play, and play hard,” he said.
