THE ANALYSIS: Another Bullet comes of age
IT was a defining run; it was a run of determination and it was an unexpected run that led to his best ever performance.
Another Bullet’s victory in the six-furlong Lady Geeta Trophy signified a coming of age for the seven-year-old bay horse trained by Patrick “Wacky” Lynch, ridden by apprentice Reyan Lewis, owned by Tainiya Kerr and bred by DaCosta Farms Limited,
The Supreme Racing Guide publishes below for readers an analysis of the six starters and their performances in the Lady Geeta, taking note that Campesino was a late non-starter, injured before the race.
FIRST: ANOTHER BULLET – ( Nasheet – Wisely Noted) – Has been trying for a while to earn his stripes at the top level but has always found the “big” horses too hot to handle. In the Lady Geeta, Another Bullet finally delivered the goods beating in the process sprint champion Chace The Great, current Horse of the Year, Will In Charge and the Horse of the Year for 2017, She’s A Maneater. Trainer Patrick Lynch deserves a lot of credit in nurturing Another Bullet to this stage, while young apprentice Reyan Lewis produced an outstanding ride, holding off on Another Bullet and then coming with a well-timed drive along the inside rails . Another Bullet’s final time of 1:11.3 was just shy of the Stakes record held by Temperence Oaks. A truly defining run by Another Bullet who made it two wins from his last two starts.
SECOND: CHACE THE GREAT – ( Greatness – One Miss Ruth) – Was the natural leader in the Lady Geeta and did so without a fuss. Chace The Great then moved away from the field entering the turn but could not hold off the surge of the winner. Another good attempt by the sprint champion who lost no marks in defeat.
THIRD: WILL IN CHARGE – ( Adore The Gold – Gem Lea) – This was the Horse of the Year’s first effort this season and did not too badly. Will In Charge has never been a sprinter and although keeping up with the pace could not deliver his usual telling punch in the straight. This effort by Will In Charge has to be considered as a prep for the longer distances to come.
FOURTH: SHE’S A MANEATER – ( Natural Selection – Ahwhofah) – Ran no race at all and going forward it is going to be very interesting to see how the handicappers are going to treat this run. This in the fourth time now that Will In Charge has got the better of She’s A Maneater in head-to-head competition.
FIFTH: MONEY MAGNET – ( Nuclear Wayne – Jazzy Jet) – Tried her best especially in the early stages but could not deliver against these.
SIXTH: PERFECT NEIGHBOUR – ( Natural Selection – Desperatehousewife) – Had no chance here and duly obliged.
