KaleX plots breakthrough
Having gained valuable experience in music production, working with Truckback Records, KaleX decided to branch out as an artiste. He has released a number of songs, including Palm Trees & Liquor, Come Thru and Tun Up Di Vibes (with Dehshh, Artikal & Projexx).
Being a producer, however, remains his passion.
“I got into music production after realising that if I wanted to do music professionally as an artiste, I couldn’t just use instrumentals from YouTube, so I decided to teach myself how to make beats and started producing my own work,” he explained.
After a two-year apprenticeship at Truckback Records, KaleX moved on. The first song he produced was Only You by Artikal featuring D’Angel in 2015.
“My first notable, official project was (the) Celsius rhythm which included Sizzla, Artikal, Quada, and many more. Since then, I have released several other projects, including Carefree rhythm (co-produced by Jelly Records), which features Popcaan’s hit song My Type. I have also worked on a song with soca artiste Ricardo Drue,” he related.
Born Keron Alexander, KaleX grew up in east Kingston and attended Wolmer’s Boys’ High School. Last year, he became a certified architect when he graduated from Caribbean School of Architecture at the University of Technology, Jamaica.
As for upcoming projects, KaleX said: “I have several with videos (shot by RichieBakez) on the way for the summer, not only from myself but songs I have produced for others, including top dancehall acts, and I may also be releasing another EP towards the end of the year that will be produced by myself and RiddimBoss under our Island.WAV label.”
