Petersfield, George’s Plain to vie for WFA Dujon Construction Major League crown
LLANDILO, Westmoreland — Petersfield FC and George’s Plain FC will square off for the Westmoreland Football Association Dujon/Construction Major League title at Llandilo Sports Complex this afternoon, set to start at 6:30pm.
Both teams are coming off contrasting semi-final wins last week, and the winners today will be the first qualifier for next season’s Western Confederation Super League.
Petersfield FC led Westmoreland Police 6-1 from the first leg and won 8-0 last week for a massive 14-1 aggregate win, while George’s Plain overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit to beat Little London 6-0 for a 6-1 aggregate victory.
Last Friday, Petersfield FC ran riot with three goals from Romario Whyte and two each from Clive Silburn and Oshane Neil, and led 4-0 at half-time, while there was also an own goal.
Silburn gave them a 2-0 lead with strikes in the 16th and 27th minutes, Whyte added a third in the 38th, while Neil got his first two minutes later.
Neil added his second in the 60th minute, while Whyte went on to complete his hat-trick with goals in the 72nd and 82nd minutes.
In the other game, Brian Williams and Lando Campbell both got hat-tricks for George’s Plain who were 2-0 up at half time.
Williams put his team level on aggregate as early as the fifth minute, then gave them the lead in the 40th minute, before completing his trifecta in the 63rd.
Campbell took up where Williams left off and got his first goal in the 64th minute, then added two more in the 74th and 77th minutes.
