Sneakerz & Jeans does it for charity
FOR one school, changes have begun thanks to party promoter Junior Richards.
“Our first project towards our charity was Herring Lane Early Childhood Institution, in Church Pen, Old Harbour. We changed a few boards and did some clean-up work,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Richard is co-promoter of the party dubbed Sneakerz & Jeans, which is scheduled for July 13 at the Church Pen Housing Scheme playing field in Old Harbour, St Catherine.
“All the proceeds will go towards the school in renovation of the building,” he said.
He explained why this early childhood institution was selected.
“The reason for this is, I am living in this community and the event is from this community. What a better way to give back than where everything started? I believe in community development, and it has children involved. The school needed the assistance and we wanted to help, so my business partner and I agreed to adopt the school as our charity,” he said.
The promoter promises that patrons will be thoroughly entertained by the party’s deejay line-up.
“It’s a party at which you can come and relax, dance, have a few drinks responsibly in a safe and friendly environment. We aim to please. Musical selection will be provided by Teamwire from Spanish Town, with Chubrock and DJ Kyle and Bishop Escobar. There will also be Resident Sound with Wayne and the crew,” said the 38-year-old.
The promoter also promised a special treat for this staging.
“Normally we don’t have an artiste on the show, but this year we are looking to provide that. Also, there will be prizes for males and females,” he told the Observer.
Richards said the party is known for its ‘laid back’ vibe.
“I love sneakers; and sneakers and jeans are an everyday wear. Since I am a relaxed person, I want my patrons to feel the same…come out relaxed,” he said.
