Sizzla heats it up at concert
Patrons came out in their numbers to see headliner Sizzla Kalonji deliver from his catalogue of hit songs at Appleton Estate Signature Nights live music series last Thursday. And they were not disappointed.
The event was held at Appleton Estate Murray’s Chillin’ in Clarendon.
As the dancehall singjay ran onto the stage, patrons gathered closer for a more personal encounter with the Grammy-nominated artiste.
He created a vibrant atmosphere for his fans, pulling from his vast repertoire of songs including Be I Strong and Holding Firm. This elicited cheers from patrons.
The females in the audience were not left out. African Queen and Woman I Need You found favour among them.
Jerusalem, Dry Cry, Solid as a Rock, Take Myself Away, Give Me A Try, and Guide Over Us also made the cut.
After completing his hour-long set, the audience demanded an encore. He returned and delivered the lyrics to Thank You Mama.
Telecia Lindo-Johnson, marketing manager at J Wray & Nephew Limited, was pleased with how the evening unfolded.
“We had a fantastic turnout for Appleton Estate Signature Nights in Clarendon. Sizzla was phenomenal onstage and delivered a high-energy performance, while pulling in our patrons for an intimate performance. We thank our loyal consumers who have supported the series over the years and there is more to come for 2019, as we continue the marriage of two things authentically Jamaican, reggae music and our world-renowned rum,” she said.
Deejay Zaga was also rostered for the event.
