Singer Kevin Downswell officially launched ‘Chapter 3’ of his Realignment Tour at Jamaica National Financial Centre on Belmont Road in Kingston Tuesday evening. This year’s theme is ‘Never…Alone’.

Downswell said providing support for disadvantaged children and communities are priorities for Chapter 3.

“When we found the theme, we never knew that everything else would take shape around the theme. When children are going through trauma, one of the best things to do is to let them know that somebody is there. With all that is going on with the country now, over 700 kids missing, the theme speaks volumes, just a reminder that we are here. It is also a catalyst to let parents know that they must do everything they can to be there for their children,” he told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash.

According to the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPSFA), formerly known as Child Development Agency (CDA), there have been 727 reports of missing children in 2019.

Realignment will take place in two phases, the first being concerts on June 21, 22 and 23 in Westmoreland at Manning’s High School; Kingston at Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre; and St Ann at St Hilda’s High School, respectively.

The second phase of the tour is infrastructural development at Ferris Primary School’s library and poultry-rearing areas as well as revamping that school’s feeding programme. KFC Jamaica, along with Best Dressed Chicken, are title sponsors for this project. This stage will also provide support, counselling and mentorship for schools in St Ann including Ocho Rios High School.

Downswell also announced that next year’s tour will be promoted by the Kevin Downswell Foundation.

“That’s the best place for it to be. Kevin Downswell Ministries is the umbrella for which we do everything. But the foundation, that’s the heart of giving. The foundation is about stretching out a helping hand to someone in need, so I think it will find its home in the foundation,” he expressed.

Speakers Tuesday included Pastor Naila Ricketts; Tina Matalon, marketing director of Restaurants Jamaica; Lorraine Kemble, marketing manager at Best Dressed Chicken; Denzil Thorpe, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, and Audrey Buhdi from CPFSA.

There were performances by Godartiste, Daynea Deacon Jones and Jai Kingston.
