No disturbance — just a calm
DISTURBIN Di Peace , a five-year-old bay horse by Adore The Gold – Winning Spirit , running for the first time in a competitive situation, opened his winning account with an encouraging six-length win over four furlongs (800m) on Saturday, June 8.
Trained by Alford Brown for owner JAG Syndicate, Disturbin Di Peace completed the distance in a time of 51.1 seconds with jockey Bebeto Harvey aboard.
The five-year-old got a good break from the number 2 post and showed good speed with Heart of Rome (Tevin Foster), who was running in the middle of the racetrack.
Passing the dummy rails, Disturbin Di Peace then began to accelerate and went on for an easy opening win.
Sonofaking (Lynford Gayle) came from behind to get second place ahead o f Cody’s Dream (Shane Richardson) in third.
Though pleased with the result, Brown wanted more.
“To be honest, I was expecting a better run from him but I am not going to bash him for this is his first race. He was turned out for three years and he just returned for a short time now — from the middle of March.
“Now that he ( Disturbin Di Peace) has made his début, I can begin to train him to see what he has to offer. I am aware that he has a little ability but I saw that he got a little tired at the end of the race and that can be because he was not extensively trained for this race, as the class in which he ran is not demanding but for upcoming events he will have to train properly to be competitive,” Brown said.
