Police shoot man, seize firearm in St Catherine
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The police is reporting that a man is now under police guard in hospital, while another has been arrested following a confrontation with members of the security forces in Kitson Town, St Catherine yesterday, Saturday, June 22.
Reports are that about 2:00 pm a joint police/military team was on duty in the area when they came under gunfire by armed men travelling in a motorcar on the Kitson Town main road. The lawmen took evasive action and following the confrontation, one of the assailants was found with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he was admitted.
Follow-up operations in the area led to the arrest of another suspect involved in the incident. He was found in possession of a Glock pistol and eight rounds of ammunition, which was subsequently seized.
The lawmen said they are now in search of other men involved in the incident.
