Mayfield All-Age tops JISCO/Alpart safety-based quiz competition
NAIN, St Elizabeth — Mayfield All-Age School in South East St Elizabeth recently won the 28th staging of the JISCO/Alpart Home School Street (HSS) Safety Programme Quiz Competition 2019.
Mayfield All-Age topped a group of 25 schools in communities surrounding the JISCO/ Alpart Refinery at Nain.
Mayfield defeated their local rivals, Seaview Primary School 47 – 20 in the quiz final.
Mayfield also posted the highest overall score in the competition, defeating Munro Prep 64 – 48 in the quarter-finals.
Alpart’s Home School Street Safety Programme was introduced in 1989 in order to share the company’s “safety values” with students, teachers, and community members within its operating areas.
The quiz competition, which started in 1991, focuses on safety in homes, schools and on the street as well as Jamaican proverbs, heritage and culture, current affairs, language arts and sports.
