Police making progress in Santa Cruz robbery
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — Police have said that they are making progress in the probe of a barefaced, late morning holdup at gunpoint of financial outlets here on Friday.
“It’s early days yet but we are receiving some good information which we believe will allow us to make a breakthrough in this matter,” an authoritative police source told the Jamaica Observer.
Police said that around 11:40 am on Friday, “three or four” armed men entered a complex housing financial outlets including a money transfer facility, a bill payment facility, a cambio and a banking link.
A security guard was reportedly relieved of his firearm and cash was taken from all four financial operations. Police said that up to early Saturday, there was no clarity on the total quantity of cash taken.
However, they said it was established that $200,000 was taken from one facility.
