Justice Seymour Panton appointed new Integrity Commission chairman
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Retired President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Seymour Panton has been appointed the new chairman of the Integrity Commission.
According to a statement from the Office of the Governor General, the Instrument of Appointment was signed by Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen late Tuesday evening and delivered to Justice Panton this morning.
Justice Panton replaces Justice (Retd) Karl Harrison, who resigned effective August 31.
The other members of the Commission are former Contractor General Dr Derrick McKoy, Eric Crawford, and Auditor General Mrs Pamela Monroe Ellis.
The Integrity Commission was appointed on February 26, 2018 under the new Integrity Commission Act of which was passed by the House of Representatives in 2017.
Members are appointed by the governor-general on the recommendation of the prime minister after consultation with the leader of the Opposition. Members serve for seven years.
