From Vine to Wine and Bean to the Bar, JFDF Tantalises Palates
Decadent indulgence in wine and chocolate are among life’s greatest pleasures. The Jamaica Food and Drink Festival (JFDF) recently led an educational seminar in wine and chocolate pairing as part of its lead-up to the seven-day festival slated for October 26 to November 3. The seminar took place at the AC Hotel by Marriott in Kingston and was jointly sponsored by the Tourism Enhancement Fund and Select Brands.
Specially invited chefs and sponsors were reminded that the seminar was the first of several which served the JFDF’s mandate of not only educating individuals’ about food and drink, but also elevating their experience.
And an elevated experience it was. Led by the very capable ‘Wine Lady’ Debra Taylor of Select Brands and Wouter Tjeertes, who founded Pure [Chocolate] with his wife Rennae, guests were taken through a nuanced pairing that left oenophiles and those new to the world of wine with a greater understanding and appreciation of wine paired with Pure Jamaican chocolate.
Dubbed Vine to Wine… The Bean to the Bar, the pairing aptly navigated the chemistry between flavours and textures to awaken the palates of all in attendance.
