Arnett blast 11 past Rangers in Women’s League
ARNETT Gardens FC, led by hat-tricks from Shakira Douglas and Shenika Williams, crushed Rangers FC 11-0 as the second round of the 2019 Jamaica Football Federation (JFF)/Lascelles Employees and Partners Co-Operative Credit Union Women’s Premier League continued at Anthony Spalding Sports Complex last Saturday.
Douglas scored in the 4th, 28th and 69th minutes, while Shenika Williams, the leading goal scorer for Arnett Gardens with ten goals, netted in the 18th, 45th and 57th.
Arnett Gardens’ other goals came from Kaena Shae Thomas (13th), Taunashae Hamilton (38th), Dejonae Pinto (66th), Kadian Edwards (74th), and Tajay Stephenson (90+3).
When the teams met in the first round Arnett Gardens had defeated hosts Rangers 4-1 at St Mary Sports Complex.
It was the fourth win from six matches for the Tamara Williams-coached Arnett, whose lone defeat was a 0-2 reverse against Zone B leaders Cavalier in the first round.
Arnett Gardens remain five points adrift of Cavalier FC, who are perfect with 18 points. Rangers are at the bottom of the zone without a point.
Coach Williams said it was a good team performance.
“The players weren’t able to train hard enough during last week, as they were hampered by the rainy weather, but they played well. I did not expected such a big win,” Williams said.
“My main purpose is to stay in contention for a place in the semi-finals. We are looking forward to meeting Cavalier again and will be seeking to avenge that defeat,” she added.
In other Zone B matches, goals from Peterkaye Green in the 4th minute, Rena Gordon (78th) and Rhonda Rhooms (90+2) gave Cavalier FC a 3-0 win over Frazsiers Whip FC at Owen Palmer Community Centre.
Real Mona FC chalked up their second win from six games with a 1-0 win over Real MoBay AFC at the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) playing field.
