Three men charged for murder in Clarendon and Trelawny
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three men are now facing murder charges thanks to the police in Trelawny and those operating in the Clarendon State of Public Emergency.
The men are accused of the murders of four people in separate incidents, between April 2 and September 27 this year.
Twenty-nine-year-old Romaine Roberts, otherwise called ‘Country’, of Jackson Town, Trelawny was arrested and charged for the murder of a man at his home in Hideout, Trelawny on April 2. Reports are that residents heard explosions and later saw the victim at the back of his house with gunshot wounds.
On August 18, two men were gunned down on Chapelton Road in Clarendon. A subsequent probe by detectives led to the arrest of 25-year-old Demar Powell of Smithville district in the parish on Sunday, September 22. Reports are that about 11:30 pm, Powell and another man attacked and shot both victims. Powell is facing charges of murder, as well as illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Meanwhile, 50-year-old Owen Sharpe, otherwise called ‘Skeng’, of Logie Green district, also in Clarendon, has been charged with the chopping murder of a man on Friday, September 27. Reports are that about midday, Sharpe attacked the now deceased with a machete during a dispute. The police were summoned and the victim taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
