#Doha2019: Jamaica win heat to make men’s 4x400m final
Jamaica won
Heat Two of the preliminary round of the men’s 4×400 metres race at the World
Championships in Doha, Qatar, on Saturday, to advance to the final of the
event.
Jamaica were
steady throughout with Akeem Bloomfield handing the baton over first to Nathon
Allen. Allen maintained the lead, with Terry Thomas doing likewise, before
Javon Francis held the challenges of the fast-finishing Kevin Borlee of Belgium
to win.
Jamaica won
in a season best of 3:00.87 minutes to qualify for the final as one of three
automatic qualifiers for the final from the heat. Belgium also did a season
best of 3:00.87 metres with Trinidad and Tobago finishing third in 3:01.35.
The United
States of America won the first heat in 2:59.89 minutes ahead of Columbia in a
national record of 3:01.06 with Italy third in a season best of 3:01.60.
The two
non-automatic qualifiers are Botswana with 3:01.63 minutes from Heat One and
France from Heat Two with a season best of 3:01.40.
