#Doha2019: Megan Tapper through to women’s 100 metres hurdles semis
Jamaica’s Megan Tapper advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s 100 metres hurdles at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar, on Saturday, as she finished second in Heat One of the preliminary round heats.
Tapper got a
good start but hit an early barrier and faded somewhat, as Nia Ali of the
United States of America pulled away to establish a comfortable lead before
winning comfortably.
Tapper,
despite hitting the hurdle, was able to hold her form to finish second with
Great Britain’s Cindy Ofili finishing third and Genesis Romero of Venezuela
fourth. The top four automatically qualify for the semi-finals.
Ali won in
12.59 seconds with Tapper finishing in 12.78, Ofili in 12.97 and Romero in
13.14.
