First rallycross win for Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Rallycross driver, Fraser McConnell secured Jamaica’s first ever win at the Americas Rallycross Championship on Sunday.
Rallycross is a form of sprint car racing, where drivers must manoeuvre between both asphalt and dirt tracks.
McConnell, who is Jamaica’s only rallycross driver, had to overcome extreme conditions to ensure his place at the top.
He took to Instagram after his win to express his excitement.
“Whether or not you know me, you know how much this win means to me. Dreams become reality when you work endlessly to achieve your goals and surround yourself with people that get you there,” he wrote.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness congratulated McConnell on Twitter earlier today.
