Anti-money laundering conference to address compliance in digital age
THE Jamaica Bankers Association, in collaboration with the Jamaica Institute of Financial Services, will host the 8th Annual Anti-money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism Conference under the theme, Compliance: Navigating the Digital Landscape.
It opens today at Jamaica Pegasus in Kingston.
Organisers said the conference targets anti-money laundering and compliance professionals, members of the legislative community, regulators, accountants, auditors, and members of the gaming and real estate industries.
Changes in legislation, as well as the impact of digitisation on the delivery of financial services, demand that compliance professionals are equipped with information and strategies to execute their responsibilities with the highest degree of efficacy. The conference will provide participants with sound and practical strategies to effectively safeguard clients, institutions, and the country in general from money laundering and terrorism-financing efforts, while maintaining internationally accepted standards.
The keynote address will be delivered by the Minister of Finance & the Public Service Nigel Clarke. Online and local participants will also benefit from presentations by local and international experts on topics such as ‘Bribery, corruption and the link to money laundering’; ‘The role of compliance in advancing business strategy’; ‘Terrorist financing and sanctions’; and ‘The impact of digitisation on regulatory environment’.
