Munro College Alumni to recognise Gassan Azan, two other outstanding graduates
The Munro College Old Boys Association (MCOBA) will recognise Gassan Azan, the late Trevor Parchment and Dr Brian Morgan as its Hall of Fame inductees for 2019.
This is to take place at a brunch scheduled for Sunday at the Caymanas Golf & Country Club in St Catherine.
President of the MCOBA Victor Tomlinson said Azan (Class of 1974) will be recognised for his pioneering leadership in business organisation and development as the founder of the Bashco and MegaMart chains of stores in Jamaica, and a chain of supermarkets in the Netherland Antilles.
Dr Morgan (Class of 1964) will be recognised for his outstanding achievement in the field of dentistry and public service in Jamaica, including his years of service to the Jamaica Dental Association, the Munro College community, the Police Services Commission and the Institute of Jamaica.
Parchment, of the Class of 1950, will be recognised for his outstanding contribution to the development of schoolboy sports in Jamaica and especially to Munro College, Excelsior High School and Kingston College. Parchment passed away in May.
Proceeds from the $7,500 event will go towards the MCOBA Scholarship Fund, which will assist current students of Munro College to defray expenses associated with attending the school. Tickets are available at the MCOBA Secretariat at 110 Old Hope Road, Kingston 6. The main sponsor for this year’s event is Sygnus Capital, one of the corporations associated with Azan.
