The footnotes of the truly gifted and brilliant mare She’s A Maneater will forever be written on the pages of the greatest- ever horses to race at Caymanas Park after her glorious and impressive victory in the 10-furlong (2,000m) iCool Juice Drink Superstakes on Sunday.

A lot has been written and said about the record-setting She’s A Maneater who, in her 29-race career, has soared above all anticipated heights and has exceeded mortal expectations. The fact that She’s A Maneater won the 2017 Triple Crown (1,000 Guineas, the Jamaica Derby, and the Jamaica St Leger), the 2017 Superstakes and the 2017 Diamond Mile, would have been more than enough to secure a special place in the record books, but when you add two more Superstakes victories to make it three-consecutive Superstakes wins to that resume, then you are approaching hallowed racing ground.

She’s A Maneater‘s 3 ¾ lengths win over three-year-olds Toona Ciliata and Sentient meant that she became the first mare, and only the third horse to win the Superstakes three or more times consecutively. She’s A Maneater (2017, 2018 and 2019) joins Mark My Word (2010, 2011, and 2012) as three-time winners and one shy of Menudo (1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002).

Never before has racing been blessed with such a brilliant horse in She’s A Maneater as she romped home in a time of 2:05.2 minutes for the distance to complete a fifth-consecutive win for the season from six starts. She’s A Maneater took season earnings to over $7 million and lifetime earning to a record over $39.1 million.

Of special note: She’s A Maneater has won the Superstakes for the third consecutive year from the number one post position.

THE RACE

Toona Ciliata (Linton Steadman) shot to the front and led the small field of seven runners ahead of She’s A Maneater (Omar Walker) and Sentient (Ameth Robles) past the stands for the first time and on to the back stretch. Leaving the half-mile, She’s A Maneater challenged Toona Ciliata for the lead and the two front-runners began to distance themselves from the field. She’s A Maneater went on and from that stage the race was all over as she sprinted away to hold her position to the wire in what was a fantastic run. Toona Cliata fought all the way for second place, while Sentient never gave up his third place up.

TRAINER’S COMMENT

Wayne DaCosta hailed the effort from his brilliant mare. “It [winning the Superstakes three times in a row] is an enormous task just to start. When she won her first one it was breaking my drought for many years of trying to win the Superstakes, which I never won it, but she broke it and she just continues winning. She is a phenomenal mare. The performance was fantastic. In fact she ran the same time she ran last year to show you that she is well within herself and the track was not fast, it was a sticky track and so I think she ran even better than last year.”
