Elaine Walker-Brown says she is expecting full sponsorship for all competitions while using the skills within the team she has assembled in the race for president, to assist the clubs to get grants, if given the chance to lead the St Catherine Football Association (SCFA).

Walker-Brown, along with her team members, tried to sway clubs within the parish on Wednesday at the Sports Development Commission’s offices in Spanish Town, as they delivered their manifesto to delegates who will cast their votes on October 20.

The chairperson for the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Women’s Football Committee, Walker-Brown is set to face the current vice-president of the SCFA, Ricardo Valentine, in a bid to lead the association.

Walker-Brown is running on the theme ‘The Team For Change’, with a slate that comprises Curven Whyte, first vice -resident; Ventley Brown, second vice-president; Sophia Smith, general secretary; Raymond Brown, treasurer; and Patrick Dunkley, assistant secretary/treasurer.

To help sway delegates, Walker-Brown brought out JFF President Michael Ricketts, who toed the diplomatic line by advising that after the outcome of October 20, all parties should get back to working together for the good of football in the parish and Jamaica.

According to Walker-Brown, she will use the clout she has garnered over many years of football administration to allay the current situation in which a number of competitions in the parish are not sponsored.

She said her team’s input will be pivotal, with good governance and effective management capabilities likely to woo sponsors who have found the current administration wanting.

Members of Walker-Brown’s camp criticised Valentine for being a part of a group that failed to provide deliverables, and that has lacked transparency.

Dunkley, who said the current executive has taken the power away from the clubs, pointed out what he deems a lack of transparency in the electoral process.

He called the current competitions’ structure weak while the administration has consistently been late with payments and awards.

Ventley Brown added that should Walker-Brown’s team win, work will begin to provide pockets of field developments over the parish, with help from the Sports Development Foundation.

Whyte said the executive under Walker-Brown will be transparent, responsive, consensus oriented, while providing equity and inclusiveness, effectiveness and efficiency. Whyte said Walker-Brown’s team will allow participation by all and be accountable to all.
