DEFENDING champions Waterhouse FC, led by a hat-trick of goals from Davia Richards, carved out an 8-0 drubbing of Royal Lakes FC as the return round of the 2019 Jamaica Football Federation (JFF)/Lascelles Employees and Partners Co-operative Credit Union Women’s Premier League continued at Drewsland Stadium last Saturday.

Richards netted in the 35th, 62nd, and 65th minutes.

Outside of Richards’ treble, Christina Salmon scored twice in the 21st and 42nd minutes, with one each coming from Laceyann Murray 53rd, Latoya Duhaney 55th, and Desoinee Anderson in the 85th minute.

In another encounter, Jodi-Ann Thomas from The University of West Indies (UWI) FC hit a four-timer in their 10-0 swamping of visitors Rangers at Mona Bowl. Thomas scored in the 62nd, 69th, 76th and 81st minutes.

The other goalscorers for UWI were Kayanna Gordon with two goals in the 75th and 82nd minutes, Crystal Walters (4th), Cardella Nesbeth (41st), Brenda Lee Walsh (74th), and Shanhaine Nelson (85th).

The Waterhouse aggregation, playing without top striker Shantel Bailey and captain Tarania Clarke who were both engaged with Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz in the Concacaf Olympic qualifiers, did not encounter much pressure from Royal Lakes and won convincingly. Their first-round meeting had ended 10-0 in Waterhouse’s favour.

The win was unbeaten Waterhouse’s fifth from six starts, keeping them well clear at the top of Zone A with 16 points.

In another Zone A match played at the same venue, two goals from Vanessa Ramsay in the 23rd and 62nd minutes, and the other from Tyesha Nelson in the 67th minute, gave Real Mona FC a 3-0 win over Trelawny Women’s FC. The win pushed third-placed Real Mona to 11 points.
